MTCI/NCRCI/BREAST-PREDICT Symposium

 

MTCI/NCRCI together with BREAST-PREDICT hosted a translational cancer research seminar with Prof Sabine Linn from the Netherlands Cancer Institute and Dr Ian Barron from Johns Hopkins/Trinity College Dublin on Wednesday, March 5th from 5:00-6:30pm in the Houston Lecture Theatre in RCSI.

MTCI/NCRCI/BREAST-PREDICT Symposium

MTCI and BREAST-PREDICT held a translational cancer research seminar with Dr Gillian Farnie on Wedbesday,  February 19th 2014.  The strongly attended seminar was held at the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute at Trinity College Dublin (Pearse Street) from 5:30-6:30pm. Dr Farnie's talk focused on  "Targeting Breast Cancer Stem Cells to Improve Radio and Chemotherapy".

PhD Recruitment Workshop

MTCI together with BREAST-PREDICT held a PhD Recruitment Workshop on Tuesday, December 17th 2013. The workshop took place in Trinity College Dublin in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute (Pearse Street) and gave students an insight into MTCI and BREAST-PREDICT, outlining the opportunities available to undertake a PhD with Principal Investigators within these two research groups.

MTCI/NCRCI/BREAST-PREDICT Symposium

MTCI/NCRCI together with BREAST-PREDICT held a translational cancer research seminar with Prof John Quackenbush on Wednesday, December 4th 2013. The seminar was held in the Houston Lecture Theatre at RCSI from 6:00-7:00pm and was followed by a mulled wine and minced pie reception. Prof Quackenbush's talk was entitled, "Solving the Big Data Challenge at the Interface of Science and Medicine: Towards Personalised Medicine."

MTCI/NCRCI/BREAST-PREDICT Symposium

MTCI/NCRCI together with BREAST-PREDICT held a translational cancer research seminar with Prof Igor Roninson on Wednesday, November 27th 2013 at 1:00pm. The seminar took place at UCD's Conway Institute. We thank everyone who was able to attend Prof Roninson's talk entitled, "Targeting Cancer Through Function-Based and Chemical Genomics". 

 

NCRCI Endocrine-Related Breast Cancer Workshop

MTCI/NCRCI hosted an endocrinology workshop on Friday, November 15th 2013 at the Herbert Park Hotel from 10am-6pm. The event was chaired by Prof Joe Duffy, co-chaired by Prof John Crown, and included a high calibre of national and international guest speakers.

The seminar took place at the Herbert Park Hotel, Ballsbridge - Lansdowne Suite 1. We thank everyone who was able to attend Prof Kennedy's talk entitled, "Transcriptional-based Biomarkers for Cancer Patient Management".

The 3U Partnership (DCU, RCSI and NUI Maynooth) held a cancer conference on Thursday, September 19th 2013. The theme of the conference was "Tumour Profiling - Biomarkers and Systems Biology".

Masterclass in Translational Cancer Research

MTCI investigator, Dr Robert O'Connor, hosted a two-day Masterclass in Translational Cancer Research at Dublin City University (NICB Building) on April 19th and 26th. Led by leading researchers from translational cancer research disciplines this two-day course gave students, scientists, clinicians, nurses and pharma industry representatives an understanding of practice, perspectives and pitfalls in a modern translational cancer research effort.

International Melanoma Workshop

MTCI investigator, Prof William Gallgher, hosted an International Melanoma Workshop at the UCD Conway Institute on May 8th and 9th. Co-chairs for the two-day event included Prof John Crown (MTCI) and Prof Joost van den Oord (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven).

MTCI Symposium

MTCI hosted a Cancer Research Seminar on Wednesday 12th December 2012 at Trinity College Dublin.

Keynote Speaker: Dr Anthony Kong

Dr Anthony Kong heads the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Group (HER group) within the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM). His research focuses on HER (ErbB) biology and their inhibitors in relation to cancer treatment using a multidisciplinary approach, including fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) assay, conventional biochemistry and immunochemistry.

MTCI Workshop

MTCI hosted a PhD Recruitment Workshop on Wednesday 28th November 2012. This workshop targeted 4th-year students who expressed interest in undertaking a career in Cancer Research and pushing the boundaries of their knowledge into the treatment of cancer. This workshop gave insight into MTCI and the opportunities available for students to undertake a PhD with principal investigators of our group.
